You are invited to do the Milestone Forest walk which is on the historic farm where the very first Conservancy in South Africa started in 1978. The walk takes you through an indigenous forest and some trees are marked to assist in identification. The walk takes about one hour and is situated on the D5033 district road with coordinates xx sssee.
Scheduled walks for 2017 are organised from 09:00 to 11:00 on the first Friday of every month. The date are: 2 June, 7 July, 4 August, 1 September, 6 October, 3 November and 1 December.
For bookings contact Marilyn Revesz on 082 427 3365. A donation of R20 per person is requested, doing the walk. The money is paid to the Balgowan Conservancy and used for the upkeep of the Milestone Forest walk. Donations are done by phoning 087 xxx xxxx and at a cost of R20 per call.
All members of the public are invited to do the Milestone forest walk. By doing this you will visit the historic farm where the very first Conservancy in South Africa was started in 1978. You will walk in the forest amongst the Yellowwoods and the walk takes about 45 to 60 minutes. It is a circle route with marked trees – to help identification. Near the end of the walk you will pass the original homestead of the farm.
